We stopped by the South Lamar Café Medici location on a Saturday afternoon, and it immediately felt cute, cozy, and inviting—the kind of place you can easily settle into for a while. Some guests were quietly working on their laptops while others caught up with friends, creating a relaxed, community-driven vibe that made it a pleasant spot to linger.
For our drinks, we ordered two single-origin espressos and one Clarksville drip coffee. The La Famiglia espresso was beautifully well-rounded—bold and flavorful without any bitterness. The La Montagna, on the other hand, packed more of a punch. It leaned tart with bright, fruity notes and a lively kick—definitely not for the faint of heart, but a fun option for adventurous espresso drinkers. Each espresso was thoughtfully served with a small glass of soda water and a chocolatey biscuit on the side. The Clarksville drip coffee was mild and approachable, with subtle fruity undertones that made it easy to sip.

Medici also goes beyond great coffee with their Make Haste Slowly podcast, hosted by founders Michael and Alison. The podcast explores the intersections of coffee, community, and entrepreneurship, featuring conversations with business owners and creatives. It blends insights on coffee culture with stories that inspire connection and thoughtful growth—very much in line with the welcoming atmosphere you feel inside their cafés. Parking was easy too, thanks to a free garage, and there are several other eateries in the same area if you want to make an afternoon out of it.
All in all, South Lamar Café Medici felt like a warm neighborhood hangout with a nice variety, intentional details, and a sense of community. A lovely stop whether you’re looking to get some work done, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a cuppa joe!
