We’ve visited SquareRüt Kava Bar (Oak Hill) a few times now, and we can confidently say their coffees and espressos are genuinely delicious. They keep a small, curated pastry selection, and our favorite treat is the banana tea cake—simple, cozy, and perfect with a warm drink. They also serve fresh pizza in the evenings, which is officially on our “we’ll be back for that” list (pizza is Thursday–Sunday, 5–9pm).
SquareRüt is an alcohol-free lounge in Austin that specializes in traditional South Pacific kava, along with coffee, tea, and food. They describe themselves as a sober-curious hub for community and connection, and that really matches the experience: it’s a welcoming place where you can unwind, get some work done, or connect with friends. The vibe is calm, quaint, and a little whimsical, with comfortable lounge seating, free Wi-Fi, and both indoor and outdoor spots—equally suited for a quiet solo visit or a laid-back hang.

If you’re new to kava, SquareRüt makes it feel approachable. Their menu is built around 100% Noble Kava sourced from islands like Fiji, Vanuatu, and Hawaii, and they serve it in traditional coconut shells with multiple size options (12oz, 16oz, 20oz). They also offer different strains and preparations (including Kava Chillers and specialty drinks), plus non-kava options like herbal teas, CBD seltzers, artisan coffee drinks, and Maine Root sodas.
A couple more helpful notes: SquareRüt requires guests to be 18+ with valid ID, and they explicitly do not sell kratom (their focus stays on kava and culturally respectful, traditional herbal beverages). They also host events and specials (often shared on social), and they offer private bookings if you’re planning something with a group.
All in all, SquareRüt Oak Hill is one of those places that feels genuinely good to be in—delicious coffee, cozy treats, an alcohol-free lounge vibe, and a mission rooted in blending tradition with modern community. And yes… we’re absolutely coming back for the pizza.
