My Coffee Beans (mycoffeebeans.net) is a small, independently owned site. This page explains what information we collect when you visit or comment here, and why. Last updated September 2, 2026.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and IP address you submit, along with the comment text itself. If you provide a website URL, we collect that too. Comments are stored in our database for as long as the comment stays published, and you can ask us to remove yours at any time — see Contact below.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you have an account there. If you do, your Gravatar profile picture is shown next to your comment once it is approved. The Gravatar service is operated by Automattic; its privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
Comments on this site are filtered for spam by Akismet, also operated by Automattic. Your comment content, IP address, and browser information are sent to Akismet to make that spam determination. Akismet’s privacy policy is at akismet.com/privacy.
Server logs and caching
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the referring page — for security and troubleshooting. We use LiteSpeed Cache to store static copies of pages so they load faster; the cache does not collect anything beyond what is already on the cached page.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to see aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what device or browser they used. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We do not receive your name or email through Analytics. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Affiliate links and cookies
Some posts on this site contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We also participate in the Commission Junction and ShareASale affiliate networks. When you click one of these links, the network may set a cookie in your browser so that, if you buy something, the referral is credited to this site and we earn a commission. We do not see or store your payment details — that transaction happens entirely on the retailer’s site.
Other cookies you may encounter here: a WordPress cookie that remembers the name and email you entered on a previous comment, so you don’t have to retype them, and the Google Analytics cookies described above. We do not currently run a cookie-consent banner; you can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser’s settings.
Requesting your data or its deletion
If you have left a comment on this site and want a copy of the data we hold about it, or want it deleted, email admin@mycoffeebeans.net with the URL of the post and the name or email you commented under, and we will act on it. We do not sell or rent visitor data to anyone.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it uses it changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
