My Coffee Beans is written by Sood. It is a small independent site about coffee — beans, brewing, gear, and the coffee shops we actually walk into.
What we claim, and what we do not
No professional coffee qualification is claimed anywhere on this site. What we offer instead is method: we read the standards, we open the sources, and we tell you which is which. Where something is our opinion, it reads like an opinion. Where something is a fact, there is a source behind it you can open yourself.
The café reviews are first-hand
The Austin café reviews on this site are real visits. We went, we ordered, we paid, and we wrote up what we found — and the photographs are ours. Where a review repeats something a café says about itself, it is attributed to the café rather than presented as our own finding.
Cafés change. Menus rotate, hours move, businesses relocate. So each review keeps its original text exactly as it was written on the day, and anything that has changed since is added underneath in a short update, with the date we last checked. We do not quietly edit an old review to make it look like it was always right.
Where our numbers come from
We do not invent tasting notes, brewing measurements, prices or statistics. Where a figure appears on this site it comes from a named source you can open — the Specialty Coffee Association, the National Coffee Association, the FDA, the USDA, a peer-reviewed paper, or a manufacturer’s own documentation. Where we could not source something, the page says so instead of guessing.
When we get it wrong
We correct in public. When a page turns out to be wrong, it says what it used to say and why that was wrong, rather than being silently rewritten. Several pages on this site carry those corrections now, and they stay there.
